Definetly run spysweeper to remove the vundo trojan ... make sure u run spysweeper in safemode. you should run it twice without restarting after the first scan when prompt. and remember to disable your system restore before doing so

OK. So when I try to start up in safe mode, the laptop shows me some dialog box for under three seconds--not long enough to read maybe not even long enough to move a cursor to the other choice, if I knew what they were.

If I don't hit whatever choice this is, then an odd-looking safe mode screen comes up, the only way to get rid of it is to take the battery out.

BTW, Norton's customer service --either live chat or email--seems never to have heard of all the troubles that have been posted on the Internet for a month now. This was a couple of days ago, maybe they've learned by now.

Not to put norton down .. but they suck haha its just that the software is to incompatible with alot of other software out there and if it expires, it can lock everything up and mess up the permissions so u will not be able to complete certain tasks .... i work for Microsoft PC Safety, if u have any issues just call ... we will assist you anyway possible ... dont get me wrong tho, Norton is a very good company, they just need to make their software more compatible with other types of software

For years I've researched answers to resolve virus and spy/malware issues and read the comments by many but what we really should be doing if giving Bill Gates the finger and spending a concentrated effort in building a better OS from scratch instead of stealing ideas from others and making megabucks off the backs of people like Bill Gates did.
The whole spy/virus thing is an insane waste of time and money in attempts to beat computer whiz geeks from having a little fun with a piece of crap like Windows.

hi, i have a difficult situation here. i have a virus and it is spreading all over the system. i tried to delete infected files, but some of them are being used by other programs. i tried everything, but it doesnt seem to work. is there a way to delete all of them at once? i havent tried safe mode because i dont have a CD for it. when i first got the laptop it didnt come with it, they gave me WordPerfect CD only. this laptop is from Dell. i dont know was the CD that i need for Dell to restore my laptop. please help me its getting worse. my internet speed is decreasing

you dont need a cd, to boot to safe mode, just restart your pc and hit "F8" until it brings up a list of otions and then click the first one safe mode, it will then boot into safe mode...as for you not having a copy of windows for your laptop, thats because they dont need it. when you first get it, you get an option to backup to cd your hard drive, if you fail to do that, then your up the creek without a paddle. hope this helps just a little bit

oh yeah i have the same problem as above, i'll try what's suggested here thanks

2007-06-12 06:38:41, Leann:
when you boot your computer, follow these instructions to get into safe mode:
Start>run>type 'msconfig'>ok.
When u get into the system comfig. utility, go to the BOOT.INI tab and click safe mode. it will give an option to reboot immidiately. btw, i've heard that the anti-spyware software this website offers removes it in 5 mins. imma try it now.
Good Luck all.
