Known plainext attack is implemented. So, if you´ve unencrypted copy of files from the archive, you can decrypt entire archive instantly regardless of the password length.

ZipPassword able to recover lost or forgotten password to pkzip/WinZip archives. To run the application you need MFC v4.0 run-time DLLs (mfc40.dll & msvcrt40.dll). These DLLs are quite common, most probably you already have them. You can download these DLLs from soft4you.com/vitas/dll.htm if necessary.
There are three methods to recover your information. 1st two methods brute-force attack & dictionary search are well-known. Although ZipPassword is really fast (over 10,000,000 passwords per 2nd), password recovery may steal a lot of time. If lost password is long, recovery time would be inappropriate (like yeahrs, centuries,...). This problem is of global nature - in general, protection in ZIP archives is complex & quite safe. In the 2nd version of ZipPassword new recovery method - so-called "Known Plain Text Attack" - has been implemented. You must have at least one file from encrypted ZIP archive in unencrypted form to perform this attack. For example, if your archive contains hundreds of any file & one of these any file may be found elsewhere, you can use this file as a source for "Known Plain Text Attack" & decrypt all other any file. "Known Plain Text Attack" steals a few hours maximum regardless of password length. Note that using "Known Plain Text Attack" you can decrypt your archive but you can NOT find the password. To proceed "Known Plain Text Attack" you should provide ZipPassword with another archive (without password) that contains at least one file from the encrypted archive. Note that WinZip has several compression modes (Maximum, Normal, Fast & super fast). The file in the 2nd must be compressed in the same mode. DEMO version able to recover short passwords only (up to 3 characters).
Zip archive may contain any file with different passwords. Current version of zipPassword unable to handle such archives properly.
Once you selected ZIP archive to crack, wizard will appear. The wizard helps you to setup search parameters. There two main modes: Automatic & User-defined. In Automatic mode zipPassword will perform search automatically. You can use "User-defined" mode for fine-tuning search options especially if you´ve some data about password nature.
